Job Description
Would you like to create tools and systems to construct one of the largest and fastest growing networks on the planet?
Azure Networking is looking for creative, motivated data scientists to develop new, cutting-edge services to enable hyperscale growth. The WAN team is responsible for the Wide Area Network interconnecting over 100 datacenters, 150 edge sites, and millions of servers all over the world. We're passionate about building the most reliable cloud network using innovations in SDN, machine learning, optimization and systems automation.
As a Data Scientist, you will help design, develop and program methods, processes and systems to consolidate and analyze unstructured, diverse data sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services, product enhancement and business impact. This opportunity will allow you to interact with product and service teams to identify questions and hypotheses for data analysis and experiments. You will develop and code software programs, algorithms, models and automated processes to cleanse, integrate and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources.
Our team is tackling two of the hardest problems in cloud networking - predicting what the network needs to look like in the future and preventive risk alerting based on network state and traffic growth to ensure safe network operation.
Our team owns the entire software lifecycle from design through development, deployment, and operations. This is a high visibility position in Azure Networking and offers a terrific opportunity for technical and career growth.
**Responsibilities**
+ You will learn and understand project objectives and requirements from a business perspective as well as assist senior leads with the assessment of a project, including risks, contingencies, requirements, assumptions, and constraints.
+ You will contribute to the development of a project plan as well as share insights with stakeholders based on direct work and understand which analysis techniques are appropriate for data and which key technologies and tools are necessary for data exploration (e.g., structured query language [SQL], Python).
+ You will assist with initial data collection and familiarizes self with data in order to identify quality problems, discover insights into the data and/or detect subsets to form hypotheses.
+ You will learn and understand various modeling techniques used within the team (e.g., linear regression, multiple regression, decision-tree building, neural network generation, support machines, derivatives) as well as run model tools on prepared dataset to create one or more models, seeking guidance as needed.
