Position Summary:

As the Senior Director within UCLAs Central Annual Giving team, we welcome your strong passion for innovation, transformation and developing new strategies to a role where you can work with us to enhance our annual and special gifts initiatives and projects. Serving as a strong partner to our Senior Executive Director and liaising with leadership and fundraisers campus-wide, you will be charged with communicating program objectives and providing thoughtful and targeted approaches enabling and ensuring success of annual giving at UCLA. You will actively participate and manage strategic planning, operational systems for our digital fundraising, communications and telemarketing for the solicitation, engagement and stewardship activities of UCLA Annual Giving. You will also work closely with colleagues and staff on data management, optimizing systems performance, managing reporting and tracking and providing analysis to inform strategy. Salary & Compensation:
*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in a fundraising environment with a preference for annual giving and/or prior experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. (Required)
  • Minimum of five years of progressively advanced data management experience to include sophisticated knowledge of complex segmentation, direct mail, e-communications and telemarketing. (Required)
  • Strong experience analyzing trends, providing forecasts and creating/ managing reports. (Required)
  • Strong experience and understanding of the logic behind pulling data to include data query principles and systems. (Required)
  • Experience in developing and executing marketing/solicitation strategies for a major research institution and/or in a related environment that is constituent driven. (Required)
  • Appropriate management and administrative experience and skills needed to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate professional and support staff and volunteers; supervisory skills to oversee and evaluate the efforts of staff. (Required)
  • Progressive knowledge of the principles and practices of development at a major research university or comparable organization with emphasis on annual giving and/or related mass solicitation techniques. (Required)
  • Proven skills in developing sophisticated strategies in planning implementing and administering annual and/or special gift solicitations or other solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity; strong ability to create and/or interpret analytics to guide strategy. (Required)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to develop creative, credible solutions, recommendations and programs as well as to define and implement communications plans, events and other fundraising strategies and initiatives. (Required)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with a wide variety of internal and external constituents towards the accomplishment of fundraising goals. (Required)
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects simultaneously from inception to completion and complete work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. (Required)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, both orally in and in writing, about UCLAs fundraising goals and the specific priorities of UCLA Annual Giving; equal ability to listen perceptively and convey sensitivity and awareness. (Required)
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce business correspondence, solicitations materials, appropriate letters of acknowledgement, proposals to individuals, corporations and foundations, report and other pertinent written communications. (Required)
  • Impeccable integrity and discretion in dealing with donors, alumni, students, administrators and colleagues as well as confidential information. (Required)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of applications to include strong skills in Excel is required as is familiarity with other applications, programs and databases as needed with a willingness to learn new technologies. (Required)
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures to coordinate services and goods necessary to implement programs. (Preferred)

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
