Summary
Responsible for the company’s bulk Sulphur vessel operations. Responsible for all aspects of export order management from receipt to product delivery, accurate invoicing, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Represents the organization’s reputation and image internally, externally, with clients, suppliers and other business associates.
Essential Job Duties
- Manage all post contract logistics to ensure delivery is in accordance with all contract terms and conditions.
- Monitor and ensures the completion of all voyages in accordance with relevant charter parties and commercial contract. Monitors and reports on the operational performance of each shipment to internal and external entities.
- Interact with customers and vessel agents regarding all shipping, transportation and logistics issues.
- Route incoming and outgoing communications regarding shipments and transportation needs to everyone involved in a professional and timely manner.
- Prepare bills of lading, certificates of origin, invoices and any other required documents.
- Prepare AES filing information.
- Appoint and instruct inspection companies, forwarders, vessel agents, etc.
- Vet performing vessels with customers, suppliers and loading & discharge terminal operators.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with customers, suppliers, ship brokers, terminal operators, independent inspectors/laboratories, vessel agents, customs brokers and other external groups.
- Verify performing vessels are compliant with OFAC.
- Review and approve all invoices and manage all costs associated with the project’s budget.
- Negotiate competitive rate structure with forwarders, inspection companies and service providers.
- Prepare and handle demurrage/dispatch settlements with suppliers and receivers and vessel owners (thru ship broker).
- Prepare charterer liability insurance reports
- Assist traders in preparation of purchase/sale contracts.
- Participation in daily/weekly conference calls with vessel brokers, product suppliers, loading terminal operators, and others
- Provide operational expertise to vessels in accordance with operational policies.
- Offer guidance, advice and expertise, ensuring the operators fulfill all requirements expected and required of the project.
- Maintain and develops relationships with approved independent inspectors/surveyors and vessel agents.
- Maintain and develops relationships with external export terminal personnel in US Gulf Coast (Texas & Louisiana) and in the US West Coast (California & Washington)
- Assist other internal colleagues with any inquiries relating to solid Sulphur operational activities.
- Support management with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Participate in financial audits in regard to maintaining required corporate records.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicates clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles
- Ability to effectively tailor the message to the needs of the audience.
- Experience in Treasury including letters of credit issuance and document presentations is desirable
- Experience in operations and logistics
- Knowledge of all shipping/logistical issues and requirements regarding International bulk commodity contracts, preferably Sulphur
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and react quickly to solve problems
- Be detail oriented
- Ability to lay out work in a well-planned and organized manner and to prioritize accordingly
- Knowledge of accounting SAGE X3 software is desirable.
- Ability to work nights / weekends as required
Education and Experience
- Bachelor degree in related field or 10 years of relevant experience is preferred;
- Minimum 2-3 years of experience in vessel logistics and shipment documentation.
- International business exposure is preferred.
