Responsible for physician recruitment, retention, supervision, practice development/management. Support the development and implementation of standardized care protocol, patient safety/quality initiative. Participate as an active member of the hospital-based physician practice. Principal duties include attending on service in the intensivist care units as scheduled by the division chiefs, participating in daily multi-disciplinary rounds, running bedside patient and family-centered rounds with residents, advanced practitioners and nurses, performing timely and appropriate bedside procedures, performing all administrative duties in a timely fashion, assisting the division with championing meaningful change and developing new processes/procedures to improve patient care efficiency and effectiveness, communicating daily with stakeholders including physicians, nursing, patients, and families, supervising residents responding to inpatient Rapid Response Team calls outside the intensive care units, responding to all Code Blue calls in and out of the intensive care units, facilitating patient triaging to promote patient flow, responding to coding, billing, and quality of care inquiries, participating in quarterly critical care interdisciplinary simulation training, providing didactic lectures to internal medicine residents, and performing other duties related to patient care as necessary. The role requires adherence to GBMC values including respect, excellence, accountability, teamwork, ethical behavior, and results orientation. Education and experience requirements include graduation from an accredited medical program, completion of an ACGME accredited critical care fellowship program, ABIM Board certification or eligibility in Critical Care Medicine, and ability to perform common bedside procedures in critical care medicine. Physical requirements include ability to perform daily tasks necessary for ICU patient management. Working conditions include normal patient care environment with possible exposure to noise, dust, temperature, communicable diseases, and adverse conditions due to patient care activities.
