Position Summary: Purchasing Coordinator - Source new suppliers and work with outside vendors to source materials including, but not limited to sheet metal, gases, tooling and inserts. Negotiate supply agreements based on an evaluation of total cost (purchase price, tooling, lead times, freight, etc.), product quality, process controls, capacity, and ability to provide continuous improvements.
Role Qualifications:
- Must possess strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills as well as well-honed negotiation skills
- Must be extremely well organized and detail oriented along with exposure to office and manufacturing environments
- Must have 5 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Primary Responsibilities: - Coordinate with engineering, operations, and quality to develop and review product specifications, statement of work performance terms and/or acceptance criteria and subsequent changes.
- Locate, evaluate, select, and maintain potential sources of supply utilizing domestic and international supply base.
- Evaluate competitive offerings on the basis of commodity and market knowledge.
- Negotiate competitive and advantageous Supply Agreements/Contracts.
- Resolve contractual disagreements and payment problems with suppliers.
- Establish procurement plans and makes overall procurement decisions for assigned commodities.
- Generate reports on purchasing activities for management.
- Develop strategies and tactics for conducting negotiations.
- Review and publish market information and trends pertaining to assigned commodities.
- Work with supplier to reduce overall lead-time including but not limited Vendor Managed Inventory or consignment relationships.
- Develop and/or implement programs/processes of standardization, process improvement. Cost reduction, cost avoidance, and cost containment.
Essential Skills and Experience: - Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
- 5+ years purchasing experience required in a manufacturing environment.
- Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Purchasing Management (CPM) preferred.
- Familiar with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships.

- Escalate to the supervisor and/or Quality Department any item, component or product that is found unacceptable or out of specification for proper disposition.
- Halt shipments of products known to be defective or known to have been produced without using the proper procedures.

Days: Monday through Friday
Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (This is not a remote position – It is in office)
Pay Rate Range: $25.00 hr. to $35.00 hr. (Depending on level of experience)
