Job Description

A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Fredericksburg, VA, supporting students from PreK through 12th grade within a K-12 school setting. This full-time, contract position runs from August 13th through May 21st, requiring 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with in-person attendance and itinerant work across multiple locations based on student needs.

The SLPA works under the direct supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to provide tailored intervention services aimed at improving students speech and language abilities. Responsibilities include assisting in implementing therapy programs, administering and scoring assessments, collaborating with educators, parents, and therapists, preparing documentation for evaluations and IEPs, attending relevant meetings, and supporting student transport to therapy sessions.

Qualifications and desired experience include:

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing or Communication Disorders
• Experience working in school settings or as a paraprofessional is preferred
• Training or experience in language and/or articulation therapy
• Strong communication skills with a positive, collaborative attitude
• Ability to learn and apply new therapeutic strategies and techniques

Key responsibilities:

• Implement speech-language intervention plans developed by supervising SLP
• Assist in assessments and progress monitoring
• Maintain effective communication with team members and families
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to relevant documentation
• Ensure punctual and organized support for therapy sessions

This role offers a competitive starting pay of $33 per hour, commensurate with credentials.
