Job Description

A Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) position is available for the 2025-2026 school year within a K-12 educational setting located in King George, VA. This full-time, contract role runs from August 13th through May 21st and involves a Monday through Friday schedule. The position requires in-person work and an itinerant assignment, providing services across multiple locations according to student needs.

Responsibilities include:

• Supporting licensed Speech-Language Pathologists by implementing individualized intervention plans for students with speech-language disorders.
• Assisting with assessment procedures such as case histories, observation checklists, and test administration and scoring.
• Collaborating with therapists, teachers, parents, and other professionals to gather and share information related to student progress.
• Participating in meetings including IEP conferences and parent sessions to discuss functional goals.
• Preparing documentation to support evaluations, progress reports, and communication with stakeholders.
• Transporting students as needed between testing or therapy locations.
• Maintaining a positive and collaborative approach while learning and applying new strategies to support student outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Associates or Bachelors degree in Speech, Language and Hearing or Communication Disorders.
• Experience as a paraprofessional or in a school environment preferred.
• Training or experience in language and/or articulation therapy preferred.
• Strong communication skills with active listening and two-way interaction.
• Ability to work effectively with students, families, and team members.
• Willingness to maintain a positive, upbeat demeanor and adapt to new techniques.

This role offers a competitive hourly rate starting at $33, with compensation commensurate with credentials. The position provides guaranteed hours through direct and indirect service delivery, allowing for meaningful impact in student communication development.
