Description: Assist the Kitchen Manager with maintaining a successful food service program by preparing and serving food, maintaining kitchen, washing dishes and trays, and assisting with food inventory.
Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED, and
- Successful Colorado Bureau of Investigation fingerprint clearance.
- Completion of all district required training within a reasonable time frame.
- Basic mathematical and measuring skills for following recipes.
- Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively with co-workers to maintain a positive and professional work climate.
- Basic to intermediate skills working with computers and school technology.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
- Ability to take the initiative to solve potential problems and then keeps their supervisor informed.
- Ability to work as a team with their coworkers and also be able to work independently on a task.
- Positive attitude about working with children.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: - Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager, assist in preparing and serving food for the National School Lunch & Breakfast Programs utilizing safe food handling procedures.
- Operate kitchen machines (mixer, oven, steamer, tilt steam kettle, dishwasher, etc.)
- Read recipes and use proper kitchen math techniques.
- Stock and set up serving line and all necessary equipment needed to serve meals.
- Provide rapid service of meals and strictly adhere to schedules.
- Sanitize all dishes, equipment, floors, tables, sink, etc. following all completion of daily school lunch/breakfast program service. Wash tables in commons area following each meal to ensure sanitary eating areas.
- Remove all trash and waste from the kitchen.
- Maintain daily records: temp logs, production records, etc.
- Cross train in all positions, including manager position.
- Assist with ordering, storing and inventorying food and supplies.
- Professionally interact with students, staff and public.
- Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
- Complete annual training.
- Comply with all district policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
